The Smallest Cat Breed

If you ask someone -"How big is a dog?", they'll most likely answer -"Depends on the breed, from tiny to extremely large", but if you ask -"How big is a cat?", most people will hold their hands 15 inches apart and answer -"About this big".

And while it is true, that majority of the cats have approximately same size (average adult cat weight 3,5-6 kg / 7,7-13 lbs), some can reach 15-20 kg / 33-44 lbs, and those are not "fat", but rather fit and slender specimen. But we are here to talk about smallest cats, with a weight of under 3 kg / 6,6 lbs.

If you are looking for a cat that never grows up, here is the list of top 5 smallest cats:

♦ First place is rightfully occupied by Toy-Bob. Those charming creatures look very similar to Thai cats, but with a short tail. Average weight ranges from 0,9 kg to 2,6 kg (1,9 - 5,7 lbs). Imagine a kitten of your average neighborhood cat, that is how small adult Toy-Bob cats are. The distinctive feature of this breed - they are very susceptible to training, almost like a dog, they are capable of bringing you your slippers, or sit, lie and play dead on demand.

♦ Second place in the ranking of the smallest breeds of cats is occupied by Kinkalou. This is a very rare breed of miniature cats, obtained by crossing American Curl and Munchkin. Average weight ranges from 1.3 to 2.3 kg (2,8 - 4,4 lbs)(female) and from 2.3 to 3.2 kg (5 - 7 lbs)(male). This is a breed of "forever young" cats, they retain a very active lifestyle until the very old age. Given their small size, buying Kinkalou, you get an eternal kitten.

♦ In the third place - Minskin. This is one of the newest breeds of "dwarf" cats. Average weight of an adult cat is 1,7-2,8 kg (3,7 - 6,1 lbs). The most curious cats in this list. They can spend hours carefully explore every corner of your home, and it doesn't matter that they already done it yesterday, "what if something has changed today" is their motto.

♦ Fourth place is occupied by Singapura. This is a companion cat, they will follow you anywhere. This breed of cats originated from the stray cats, which may be the reason why they are so attached to his master. After all, it is widely known that the most loyal and docile cat - is the one that you picked up on the street. An adult Singapura cat weight is 1,9 - 3,1 kg (4,1 - 6,8 lbs).

♦ The last on the list of the smallest breeds of cats is Dvelf (Dwarf cat) - experimental breed of hairless cats. These are the most motivated cats, if they set a goal to climb the bookshelf - they will do it, silently and stubbornly overcoming obstacles, despite of their small size and short legs. Dvels are very easily offended, and if you hurt their feelings, they will hide as far away from you as possible, and will do their best to not be found. Weight range for an adult cat: 1.9 to 3.1 kg (4,1 - 6,8 lbs).
