EGYPTIAN MAU, THE MYSTICAL AND SACRED CAT
Egyptian Mau
|
In our time, it is believed that the Egyptian Mau breed originated from an African wild cat that had a calm temperament and lived with people. Mau is an ancient Egyptian name for a cat.
Character:
Egyptian Mau is a breed of cats with a calm character and amazing beauty. These are the most affectionate and devoted friends. They are valued for their pedigree. Egyptian Mau inherited poise and passion from their ancestors. These cats are sociable and affectionate, loneliness is intolerable for them. Love outdoor games, walking. And how funny they look, when they jump on their hind legs expressing their joy.
Probably, this is the only cat that does not mind putting on a collar with a leash and strolling along with the owner. Egyptian Mau enjoys walking. If you prefer active leisure - the Egyptian Mau is made for you.
Egyptian Mau is a champion amongst the cats when it comes to sprinting, they can reach a speed of 58 km\h, no other cat is capable of beating that. Thanks to excellent vision and hearing, inherited from their ancestors, Egyptian Mau is an excellent hunter. They enjoy playing games that involve chasing, that is where Egyptian Mau can showcase its qualities.
Another distinctive feature of Egyptian Mau - talkativeness. If you are fond of "chatting" with a cat, then Mau is just what you need. They can follow you around for hours, sitting on your lap or even your shoulders and "suggest" the best way to solve problems (from a cat's point of view).
These are very neat cats, and they enjoy playing with water. They can keep you company when you are taking a bath. There is a weird habit that Egyptian Mau has, they always poke the water with their paw before drinking it (checking for freshness).
Egyptian Mau are easily accustomed to a litter box.
Egyptian Mau are excellent parents. Even male cats can take part during birth of the kittens, providing support and assistance, and then take care of the offspring together.
Egyptian Mau is widespread all over the world - they are found in England, Holland, Italy, France, and USA. These cats are not cheap, but true connoisseurs of this breed believe that they are worth every penny.
Health:
Unfortunately Egyptian Mau are not the healthiest bunch. Their most common illnesses are: a tendency to allergies, heart disease and asthma. The average life expectancy for cats of this breed: 13 - 15 years.
