Don Sphynx - is one of the newest breeds of cats. This charming creature immediately captivated everyone with its "heavenly" looks and a sweet temper, becoming very popular breed. There is an explanation - the representatives of this breed have no shortcomings. You are probably smiling skeptically right now, but I will try to prove it to you.

It all began in 1986 in the Russian city of Rostov-on-Don. One young girl, returning home, saved a little kitten from the group of kids who were mocking the poor creature.

The girl's name was - Elena Kovaleva, and a kitten was called - Varvara. Some time later, the kitten began to molt, becoming outright bald, and medical procedures or drugs were unable to stop it, and eventually there was not a single hair left on its back.

Two years later, a few experts, engaged in breeding of pedigreed cats, took interest in the balding cat, but didn't find it appealing for breed development. And the story of Don Sphynx could've end here, if it wasn't for the undertaking of Irina Nemykina. After many years of hard work Irina revealed a new breed to the world, and a decade later, in 1996, this breed was registered as a Don Sphynx.

Appearance:

Don Sphynx - Russian breed of hairless cats, with a muscular body and silky to the touch skin. Their skin is warm like a bottle of hot-water. Don Sphynx have slender and long legs with delicate thin toes, and a long tail.

And what a wonderful attractive face, it is impossible not to fall in love with it. Big ears. The large, slightly slanted, almond-shaped eyes.

Cats of this breed are attached to people, and although people say that cats love their houses, it's not about Don Sphynx. They are dedicated and loyal friends. Another plus - the absence of aggression, they will captivate you with their peacefulness. Don Sphynx are also very rational and patient.

If you are dreaming about affectionate cat that will sleep with you, and will let you pat itself when you want to - Don Sphynx is for you.

If you have small children, these cats will become a loyal friends for them. You can watch as they play for hours without rest. Sometimes, because they have a lot of unspent love, Don Sphynx can be a bit intrusive - you have just sat down to rest, they will be right there, but you want to have a true friend? A friend, who will sing, or "purr", you songs, who will warm you during a cold winter. And this is not just some made up poetry, they can literally keep you warm, the body temperature of Don Sphynx is 42 degrees (C).

They live in harmony with all creatures that will inhabit your home. Won't bite and fight, unless the co-inhabitant exhibits gastronomic interest to the Sphynx, then it will defend itself rather ferociously.

And another big and important plus of their character - these cats are excellent barometers of your mood. If you feel like having some fun and play, the Don Sphynx will be right there, but if you're not in the mood, then they won't bother you, but only after offering you a warm shoulder to cry on, just in case.

Health:

These cats have an excellent health. With proper care and nutrition they live 13-15 years. Proper care - is, above all, grooming - they have to be regularly bathed. As well as eye care - due to the fact that they do not have cilia, the mucus can accumulate in the conjunctival sac. It must be periodically cleaned with a piece of cotton wool.

Without a fur, these cats need a lot of calories to maintain their body temperature, make sure that you feed them well.
