CATS THAT LOVE SPENDING TIME ON YOUR LAP
Cat breeds that prefer to spend time on their owner's lap:
American Shorthair - wayward individuals with independent character. They will sit on your lap, but only when they themselves want to.
Turkish Angora - very attached to their master, but not annoying. If they feel that you are not in a mood to play or cuddle with - will quietly sit nearby. Absolutely can't stand being alone.
Birman - quiet and gentle cats. Unobtrusive, but loves being the center of attention. Won't force you to cuddle with them, but will happily do so at your first request.
British Shorthair - hate spending time on their master's lap, or being in any kind of physical contact with people in general. But they are very patient - will tolerate your affection, even if they don't like it.
York Chocolate - very attached to their master, but won't always spend time on their lap. If they see that you are busy with something - will sit quietly nearby. But once you take a break and call them - will immediately, joyfully, rush to your call.
Maine Coon - independent-minded, but prefer spending time with their master. Depending on the mood they can spend hours sitting on your lap, or otherwise sit somewhere in the corner.
Norwegian Forest Cat - not so much of a cuddlers, but love spending time at your feet.
Ragdoll and Ragamuffin - the most affectionate cats. Will spend all day in your arms, but only if you want them to. They don't like to attract attention, but absolutely need to socialize and hate being alone.
Safari - in spite of their impressive size - very tame, affectionate and gentle creatures. They can soak up hours on your lap if only you have the patience to caress them all that time. But if you do not like such a pastime, Safari cats won't take offense and go sleep on a pillow. Unobtrusive and does not require a lot of attention.
Toy-Bobtail - love attention, know no better way to spend their time except to bask in your arms. Will lay down and will be meowing plaintively until you pick them up and give them undivided attention.
Skookum - very affectionate cats, love being petted. Would love to spend eternity on your lap, but they don't have the patience, and always look for something to do. Prefer to active games rather than cuddling.
Sokoke cat - affectionate cats. They love to play with their master, to communicate, but are not fond of spending time on their lap. Prefer to sit, independently, somewhere near their master.
Sphynx - occupy the first place in the rankings of the most affectionate cats. They can constantly sit on your lap. And not only because they love it, but because they simply feel warm and comfortable in your hands. Do not forget that these cats have no fur, and the warmth of your body is vital to them.
Thai cat - very loyal. Will meet you at the door, and immediately try climb on you for a hug. And if they notice that their owner is not healthy, will sit at his bed.
Javanese cat - a real suck-up. They can sit on your lap for hours motionless, as long as you stroke and comb. But they prefer active lifestyle, so as soon as you stop caressing them - will immediately get off and go back to their business.
There are hundreds of breeds recorded and officially recognized worldwide, and on top of that there are countless varieties of mixed breeds. It is very difficult to describe the nature of each breed. The behavior of the cat depends not only on its breed, but also on many other factors: early socialization, raising conditions, relations with their master, etc.
And remember, you can't force a cat to cuddle with you or sit on your lap, if they don't want to.
