How old is your cat?

How old is your cat in human years.

Is it possible to "convert" cat's age to a human age? As in find out how old would your cat be if he\she was a human? Yes, very easy actually.

If you want to calculate the age of your cat on your own, there are several different formulas for that, but all of them come down to this formulation: one cat year equals to seven human years.

However, this is true for the first five years of a cat's life (i.e. until the cat reaches the age of five). After that every cat year is equal to five human years.

Or you can simply use the calculation table below:

                         1 y.o. Cat = 7 y.o. Human           11 y.o. Cat = 65 y.o. Human
                         2 y.o. Cat = 14 y.o. Human         12 y.o. Cat = 70 y.o. Human
                         3 y.o. Cat = 21 y.o. Human         13 y.o. Cat = 75 y.o. Human
                         4 y.o. Cat = 28 y.o. Human         14 y.o. Cat = 80 y.o. Human
                         5 y.o. Cat = 35 y.o. Human         15 y.o. Cat = 85 y.o. Human
                         6 y.o. Cat = 40 y.o. Human         16 y.o. Cat = 90 y.o. Human
                         7 y.o. Cat = 45 y.o. Human         17 y.o. Cat = 95 y.o. Human
                         8 y.o. Cat = 50 y.o. Human         18 y.o. Cat = 100 y.o. Human
                         9 y.o. Cat = 55 y.o. Human         19 y.o. Cat = 105 y.o. Human
                        10 y.o. Cat = 60 y.o. Human        20 y.o. Cat = 110 y.o. Human

A half year old kitten is equal to a three years old child.

Cats, just like children, acquire habits and master skills in the first few years of their life. That is why breeders advise to purchase kittens at the age of 12-14 weeks.

At the age of two (human age of 14) - cats have a completely established personality with its habits and manners. At this age cat can still be re-educated, but it will be very difficult. This is why kittens that grew up without human attention and interaction will remain unsociable and will be very difficult to tame (they won't let you hold them in your arms, and will shun strangers).

How long do cats live?

The average life expectancy of an ordinary cat is fifteen years. This figure can vary, depending on the health of the cat, living conditions, nutrition, care, etc. Most often cats live to old age maintaining their playfulness, cheerfulness and clarity of mind.
